The professionals associated with the ECO-EJE have more than 30 years of national and international experience in the fields of legal advice, ecological-economics, markets and green finance, environmental management, conservation, administration and project management, among other areas. This allows our firm to provide comprehensive services that can meet the needs of our clients with greater efficiency, consistency and technical solidity.
Technical team

Dr. Bernardo Aguilar González
PhD in Natural Sciences with an emphasis on Environmental Management and Culture, M.Sc. in Agricultural and Applied Economics, and a Bachelor's and Specialist in Agrarian and Environmental Law at the University of Costa Rica. He has 30 years of national and international experience in technical work, as a lawyer, and in public service in environmental matters (Environmental Law, Ecological Economics, and Political Ecology) for NGOs, public institutions, and universities in the United States and Costa Rica.

Joan Aguilar Umaña
Active student in the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Environmental Health at the University of Costa Rica. Technical Assistant at Eco Eje. Field experience in riparian health and forest cover studies, land-use change studies, and wetland identification. Experience participating in various volunteer and advocacy activities, such as organizing youth groups, tree planting, community mangrove conservation programs, waste collection, and the Telethon.

Lic. Ruth Solano Vásquez (External Consultant)
Master's degree in Environmental Law from the University for International Cooperation and a law degree from the UACA (University of the Autonomous University of Buenos Aires). Six years of experience as a Principal Judge of the Administrative Environmental Court of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MINAE) and over 30 years of experience as a legal advisor and litigator in environmental, administrative, and notarial matters in private practice and with NGOs.

Bach. Bernardo Aguilar Umaña (External Consultant)
Bachelor of Education from the University of Costa Rica (UCR). Educator with experience in designing environmental education curricula, teaching English as a second language, and facilitating field education programs for US universities and NGOs in Costa Rica. Currently works as a secondary English language teacher.

Lic. Luis Fernando Fallas Marín (External Consultant)
Law degree from the University of Costa Rica. 35 years of experience as a legal advisor, trial lawyer, and notary public, specializing in labor and criminal matters for public institutions and in the practice of law.

M.L. Jorge Mora-Portuguez (External Consultant)
Master's degree in Environmental Law from the University of Costa Rica (UCI), a Bachelor's degree in Law, and a Notary Public from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) Experience as a facilitator, consultant, and researcher in citizen participation processes, human rights, sustainable mobility, integrated water resource management, watershed management, urban planning, and land use planning in Costa Rica, Central America, and internationally for over 26 years.

Lic. Bernardo Aguilar Gaucherand (External Consultant)
Holds a law degree from the University of San José. Over 50 years of experience in the courts, as a legal advisor and litigator in labor law matters within the Costa Rican judiciary and in private practice.
